La Central project is located in the Melrose section of the Bronx and it will be a multi-phase, mixed-use affordable housing development. Mountco has been selected to build sites A & B. Mountco has been working on the pre-con for building A for the past 18 months and just agreed with owner, BRP, to also be the builder of building B. These sites combined are approximately 700,000 square feet, which will house 496 units of affordable housing, along with a YMCA, BronxNet television studios and a GrowNYC urban rooftop farm.
Building A is a 12-story residential tower plus cellar with some commercial and community facility space. The site will contain 215 affordable housing units, as well as, a YMCA-community facility and rooftop farm managed by GrowNYC.
Building B is a 13-story residential tower plus cellar some commercial and community facility space. The site will contain 281 affordable housing units, 97 parking spaces, and a new home for the BronxNet television studios.
